Each program builds on the one before it, providing challenges appropriate to both age and skill levels. Practical life exercises like sorting, pouring, washing dishes or polishing shoes absorb them completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At The Joyce Goonesekera Montessori House of Children, we recognize this as the beginning of control and coordination of mind and body. That\u2019s why our learning revolves around tangible experiences. Children use concrete materials to learn math; movable alphabets to explore language; and cubes, cylinders and other objects to categorize, find spatial relationships and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our broad-based Montessori Program includes: Practical Life Activities, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Cultural Awareness, Science and Nature, Music and Movement and outdoor play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no traditional \u201cgrades\u201d at a The Joyce Goonesekera Montessori House of Children school. Instead, directresses closely follow a child\u2019s progress, recording it in a daily journal. The extended day programme is limited to children enrolled at our House of Children.
